Finance Director
The City of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa (population 4,551 - 2016 est.) is seeking a responsible and motivated professional willing to perform a variety of complex, supervisory, professional, administrative and technical accounting and finance functions and treasury functions of the City as well as supervising the operations of utility billing, accounts payable/receivable and customer service.  Computer skills (Excel, Word processing, Accounting software) required.  Mayor and 5-member City Council, $12.1 million budget.  Skills in financial management and analysis, human resources, personnel management, records management, part of job requirement.  Qualified candidates will have graduated from an accredited college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, business, or public administration, or a closely related field, with five years' experience of progressively responsible municipal finance work.  Must possess or be able to achieve International Institute of Municipal Clerks (CMC) designation within a negotiated timeframe.  Salary range is $60,000-75,000 and depends upon qualifications and experience.  A detailed job description is available upon request by calling City Hall at 712-943-4244.  Send letter of application and resume to:  City of Sergeant Bluff, P.O. RECEPTIONIST POSITION

Applications for a Full-Time Receptionist are being accepted at City Hall until 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 30, 2017. Job duties include but are not limited to: accept & receipt customer payments; answer all incoming calls & handle caller’s inquiries whenever possible; redirect calls as appropriate & take adequate messages when required; greet, assist, direct visitors & the general public; provide word-processing & secretarial support; maintain a current & accurate filing system; acting as Secretary for various board meetings held in the evenings; & perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Candidate must have excellent organizational skills; possess knowledge of general office equipment & procedures; possess accurate typing & proofreading skills; able to communicate tactfully & courteously with others; have knowledge of & ability to operate computer/computer software; able to set priorities regarding duties & follow them through to completion. Hours scheduled are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with an hour lunch break. Starting wage will be $12.68 per hour or DOQ.

Potential Police Officer Position

The City of Sergeant Bluff is seeking applications for Police Officer for any vacancies that may occur in the next 24 months at the Sergeant Bluff Police Department. Primary function is to enforce local, state and federal laws and ordinances; to patrol assigned areas; and to do skilled police work in the investigation of alleged criminal offenses and juvenile cases.

 

Starting salary is $45,470 for non-certified or $47,611 for certified officers annually plus excellent benefits. Applications must be submitted online or in person no later than Oct 23rd, 2017. Job Requirements to be eligible you must have graduated from high school or an equivalent, and be able to meet minimum standards for Iowa Law Enforcement officers as indicated by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.

At the time of hiring you must also be able to maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued by the State of Iowa. No OWI convictions within the last five years. No more than three convictions for moving violations within any 12-month period over the last five years. Must be able to obtain an Iowa Professional Permit to carry weapons. Post offer physical, drug screen and psychological exam.
