Aaron Lincoln began as City Administrator on March 5, 2014.  Lincoln is originally from Fort Dodge, Iowa where he graduated high school in 1991.  He later graduated from Iowa State University in 1996 with his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.  In June 1996, he married his wife Sara and moved to the Siouxland area to work for C S D Engineering, PC in Sergeant Bluff for four years, which was later purchased by Veenstra & Kimm Inc. in 2000.

Lincoln continued to work as an engineer with a local Sergeant Bluff firm and was promoted to office manager in 2005.  Since 2000, Lincoln has been the City engineer on a consultant basis doing various projects for the City including oversight of all residential and commercial subdivisions, project manager for four (4) Iowa DOT federal aid projects, design and construction of numerous public utility improvement projects, grant writing assistance for capital improvement projects, project cost estimation for city budgeting, and consultation with the daily engineering and planning needs of the city.

Lincoln moved to the Sergeant Bluff community in 2009 with his wife, where they are raising their 5 children, Joseph, Abigail, Sophia, Jessalyn and Andrew. Lincoln’s community involvement includes being a part of the Community Action Team, he is one of the original board members of the Community Development Cooperation, and he is also the president of the Kiwanis Club.

Quotes from Aaron Lincoln in Sergeant Bluff Advocate article by Alexandra Krula:  “I don’t have a lot of training specifically in government yet. I am kind of in a unique spot where a lot of the administrators of the past would have had degrees in the field where as my qualifications come from the city planning, city engineering and I have managed an office within a private firm.  The city has a lot of projects in the works where I will be able to utilize my skills to benefit the community.  Being an engineer I can provide services to lessen the burden on the tax payers. Also, with having experience in a consultant firm, I have built connections and relationships with the county and surrounding communities which is another component that will benefit the community.  Being involved in the community is more than a job for me, it is a passion to make the community the best we can with the resources and the people we have, and I’m excited for the growth and opportunities we have ahead, and I am excited to serve.”
