Understanding
Your Utility Bill
|
The City sends out utility
bills every month, on the first of the month. The payment is due on the 20th of
the month unless the 20th falls on a Sunday. Then the bill is due the next
business day after the 20th. The bills are postcard bills.
| Current Rates |
| Garbage: Monthly charge of $12.98 |
| Water: Minimum charge of $7.00.
Rate per thousand gallons is $4.22 |
| Sewer: Minimum charge of $4.00.
Rate per thousand gallons is $6.51 |
| Note: There are no sewer charges on
water usage that goes through a properly installed lawn meter. The water
rate is the same on a lawn meter as it is on a house meter. |
|
| Electric Rates: Rates
changed depending on the season. Please contact City Hall for the current
electric rates. |
|
|
| Budget Billing Plan (also known as
Level Payment Agreement): |
| If you would like your bill to be the
same amount every month, you can do this by signing up for the Level
Payment/Budget Billing plan. The monthly amount is figured by using
the estimated average charges. These figures are re-evaluated every March.
Any overpayment or underpayment is figured into the new amount. The City
does not issue checks for overpayments. It is recommended that you wait
until you have had 12 consecutive billings before signing up for this
plan, so that the figures are based on your actual usage, and not
the usage of the previous occupant. If you are moving into a brand
new house, with no history, you may not sign up for the plan until there
is significant history for us to base your payment on. You may go off the
budget billing at any time, however you must then wait one year before
signing back up. Your budget balance will be indicated on your bill each
month. If, at any time, you have questions about the plan, your balance,
or how your bill is figured, please call City Hall and we will be happy to
go through it with you. |
