VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CITY BOARDS

The City of Sergeant Bluff has a need for volunteers on our Community Boards. Applications are available by stopping by City Hall at 501 4th Street or by downloading and printing this FORM.

Community Action Team
The Community Action Team is an organization that plans and coordinates events like Pioneer Valley Days and Winter Festival in Sergeant Bluff. Whether you can help out on occasion or on a regular basis, volunteers are necessary to make these events successful. Multiple positions are available. The Community Action Team meets on the last Tuesday of the month at 12-noon.

Parks Board
The Parks Board has one open position on this volunteer board. The Parks and Recreation Board advises, provides feedback and offers recommendations and input to the Parks and Recreation Director and City Council regarding planning, operations and maintenance of the City's park areas and recreation facilities as well as development and implementation of recreational activities and programming for the leisure time of a broad range of the City's residents of all ages, abilities and interests. The Parks Board meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 pm and as-needed.

Stormwater Adivsory Committee
The Storm Water Committee was established recently by ordinance, but we still lack sufficient applications to appoint the members and to hold the first meeting. The Committee will provide recommendations for long-term policies and goals related to stormwater issues and for the stormwater management program. They also provide recommendations for improvements to municipal stormwater management, projects, proposals and other stormwater-related activity to the City Council. The Committee will meet at least once a year and for special meetings.

Planning & Zoning Commission
The Planning & Zoning Commission has one open position on this volunteer board. The Planning & Zoning Commission provides recommendations on Conditional Use Permits, Minor and Major Subdivisions, Planned Unit Developments, rezoning, and plays a vital part in planning for the future needs of the City. The Commission meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm and as-needed.
